How to Judge the Quality of Air Compressor Spare Parts

As the name implies, the quality of an air filter mainly depends on the density and quality of filter paper, which can be identified visually.

Poor-quality air filters allow a large amount of contaminants and dust to enter the screw compressor. This easily clogs the oil separator element, causes excessive internal pressure, and leads to oil ejection via the safety valve.

Oil Filter

The oil filter is a relatively complex air compressor component, and its quality is hard to distinguish directly. Its performance can be judged mainly by service life. 

If clogging alarms trigger prematurely before the designated service interval, or problems such as low oil pressure and excessive discharge temperature occur, the root cause is likely a defective oil filter. 

The quality of the oil filter matters greatly; inferior products easily trigger various compressor maintenance faults.

Oil-Air Separator

The oil-air separator is the most expensive consumable part inside screw air compressors. High production costs lead to its relatively high market price. Generally speaking, 

imported oil-air separators deliver superior quality with advanced differential pressure control and oil filtration technology. Therefore, 

it is recommended to select imported oil-air separators under normal operating conditions to effectively avoid faults of the separator element.

Air Compressor Lubricating Oil

Air compressor oil is an indispensable medium for screw air compressors; the unit can barely operate without qualified lubricating oil. 

It should be noted that compressor manufacturers do not produce screw compressor oil themselves. Compressor oil is refined from petroleum feedstock. 

Three common grades are widely used: 8,000-hour synthetic oil, 4,000-hour semi-synthetic oil and 2,000-hour mineral oil. Hence, selecting high-quality synthetic oil is critical for reliable compressor operation.
