How often should an air compressor air filter be replaced? Analogous to clothes that need cleaning when dirty,
air compressor air filters are disposable consumables and cannot be reused. They require periodic replacement upon reaching their service cycle.
The service life of an air compressor air filter depends not only on its quality but also on the environment of the compressor room. Normally,
high-quality air filters can last 1,500–2,000 hours and must be replaced when expired.
If the compressor room operates in a dusty environment, such as textile mills filled with fly waste, even premium filter elements need replacement every 4 to 6 months.
For air filters of ordinary quality, replacement every three months is generally recommended.
Dust is the biggest threat to air filters. Dust accumulated on the outer surface of the paper filter element should be cleared in a timely manner.
When the air filter indicator light on the control panel illuminates, the filter shall be cleaned or replaced promptly.
It is advised to remove the air filter element weekly and blow off surface dust.Overdue service means the air filter has been used for more than 2,000 hours or continues operating after failure.
Running an expired air filter brings potential risks to the air compressor:
