Misconceptions about the Use of Air Compressor Filters, Do You Know

Many air compressor users hold a common misconception that the higher the filtration precision of an air compressor filter, the better. In fact, this viewpoint is wrong. 

It is not true that filters with higher precision are superior; selecting the air compressor filter with suitable precision is the optimal choice.

Filtration precision refers to the maximum diameter of solid particles that can be intercepted by an air compressor filter element. A filter element with higher filtration precision can trap smaller solid particles, 

yet it is also more prone to blockage by larger particles. When selecting air compressor filters, arbitrarily adopting high-precision filters regardless of working conditions cannot guarantee improved filtration efficiency 

(related to penetration rate, the most critical indicator for evaluating filter quality). Meanwhile, the service life of the filter will also be negatively affected. 

Filtration precision should be selected according to the substances to be filtered and the target purification requirements.

There is another widespread misunderstanding during filter selection. Many people believe that installing a single air compressor filter with the precision matching the required air quality can satisfy demands and reduce costs. 

This idea is incorrect. Although the final compressed air quality is determined by the precision of the final filter, without pre-protection from upstream filters of lower precision, 

the high-precision filter element will quickly clog due to excessive load. This shortens the replacement cycle of filter elements and indirectly raises production costs.

Therefore, during maintenance work, engineers shall reasonably recommend appropriate filters for end users based on actual operating conditions. 

This approach minimizes operating costs and enables optimized operation of the air compressor unit.
