A lazy poppet, hardened diaphragm, or leaking seat shows up as rough loading, unstable suction, air loss at idle, or pressure control that "drifts but never fails." Rebuild on scheduled overhaul or at the first sign of valve leakage—never reuse old O-rings over the new set. Clean the valve bore, lay parts out in sequence, check the actuator and pilot air path while open, and torque square so the plate seats evenly.
