Product Introduction
Downstream air quality is won at the PD stage, not at the tool nozzle. 2901200404 is Atlas Copco’s PD70+ (also listed as PDp70+) high-efficiency coalescing filter element for compressed air treatment lines, sitting after the DD stage to strip residual oil aerosol, fine water mist, and sub-micron dust before air reaches dryers, valves, and process equipment. Glass-fiber/foam composite media captures droplets by inertial collision and Brownian diffusion; liquids drain to the bowl and get dumped by the auto drain, while clean air continues downstream.
A loaded PD element does not usually fail with a bang—it drives differential pressure up, forces dryers to work harder, and lets oil mist forward into instruments and finish lines. Replace on DP alarm or at the normal service interval; sooner in oily, humid, or dusty upstream conditions. During fitting, relieve pressure, drain the bowl, wipe both seal faces, seat the O-ring without twists, and hand-start the element so the end cap is not cocked. Most post-change oil carry-over complaints come from a pinched seal or a reused bowl gasket, not from the media itself.
Confirm housing size (PD70+ / PDp70+), flow rating, and port size against the machine air-treatment train before dispatch—DD, PD, and QD elements share the same outer look but are not interchangeable by micron grade. Also called PD filter cartridge, coalescing line filter, oil mist filter element
