Frequent Startup Tripping of Refrigerated Air Dryers

 There are five root causes for frequent startup tripping of refrigerated air dryers. Carry out maintenance inspection according to the following items:
High ambient temperature without any cooling measures, resulting in abnormal internal operating conditions.
Poor ventilation between the equipment room and outdoors, failing to exhaust heat in a timely manner.
Unstable power supply, poor electrical contact or other faults leading to severe voltage fluctuation.
The dryer’s rated processing capacity is smaller than actual air demand, causing overload operation.
Malfunction of the control instrument.

All the above conditions will affect dryer operation. If frequent startup tripping occurs, conduct a thorough inspection covering all potential causes without omitting any parts.

Minor details are often overlooked yet serve as critical fault points. Repair any faulty components immediately and eliminate non-existent causes in time.

Ensure sufficient cooling water inside the unit, as the performance of accessories plays a decisive role.

Avoid prolonged continuous operation which leads to equipment fatigue. Perform regular maintenance after specified operating intervals. In most cases,

frequent tripping arises from inadequate inspections and failure to follow operation manual instructions. Improve relevant technical awareness,

rectify improper operation, and guarantee stable equipment operation.

Operation Instructions
Startup Procedure
Verify correct power supply voltage; confirm residual current circuit breaker is installed and grounding work is completed.
Check if automatic drainer and drain pipeline are properly mounted. Ensure drained condensate does not splash onto the machine.
For water-cooled models: Start the cooling tower and open cooling water valves first.

If equipped with power indicator (POWER ON / VOLTAGE ON), press the START button (ON, START) after the indicator lights up.

If no power indicator is fitted, turn the switch directly to start the unit.

After startup, the RUNNING indicator remains illuminated until shutdown or fault alarm. When abnormal indicator (FAULT / OVERLOAD) lights up, the running indicator turns off.

The compressor maintains continuous operation after startup with the running indicator lit. The cooling fan of air-cooled models may start or stop depending on load conditions

(Note: The cooling fan of certain models runs non-stop by design).

The automatic drainer starts collecting condensate and performing drainage 30–60 minutes after startup.

Operate the dryer continuously. Do not connect its control circuit together with the air compressor, which will cause repeated cycling of the dryer.

Avoid frequent manual startup and shutdown.

If the fault indicator lights up or other abnormalities occur, refer to troubleshooting guidelines or contact our company.
Shutdown Procedure
Under normal conditions, stop the air compressor first.
Press the dryer STOP button (OFF, STOP), or turn the lighted switch to position (0) for shutdown.
Cut off the main power supply of the dryer. Confirm the power indicator goes out if available.
For water-cooled models, check whether the cooling tower and water pump need to be shut down.
Restart Procedure
Wait for 5 minutes after shutdown before restarting the dryer. Otherwise, startup failure, fault alarms or abnormal operation may occur.
