Product Description
The oil separator is what keeps lubricating oil in the sump/separator tank and out of your air line—not a generic filter you swap by guesswork. 2901196300 is an oil separator / air-oil separator (AOS) element for Atlas Copco oil-injected rotary screw compressors, mounted in the separator vessel and tasked with stripping oil mist from the compressed-air stream after the compression/lube loop, allowing clean air to pass downstream while oil returns to the lube system.
A failing separator typically shows as high oil carry-over, rising oil consumption, oily downstream filters/dryers/instruments, unstable separator-tank pressure/load-unload behavior, or elevated separator differential pressure—symptoms often confused with a bad minimum-pressure valve, clogged return line, or “dirty air.” Replace per scheduled service or when carry-over/DP indicates; do not keep topping up oil to mask it. During service: isolate and relieve all pressure, drain the separator/tank, clean seal lands, fit the new element squarely, torque/secure the cover/housing per spec, and verify the oil return path/MPV are sound—most post-change oil-in-air complaints come from a pinched gasket, mis-seated core, or return-line issue rather than the element itself.
Confirm machine model/serial and the removed part label before dispatch; separator shapes and part numbers vary by package and vessel design and are not safely swapped by photo alone. Also called air oil separator, oil separator core, separator element, AOS
